Joes Abe Crall earns first GLSCL Pitcher of the Week

GLSCL PITCHER OF THE WEEK - June 10, 2024

 

 

Abe Crall - Hamilton Joes - Wright State University

Abe Crall dominated at times on the mound during two relief appearances for the Hamilton Joes. Crall pitched 4 and 1/3 innings striking out a GLSCL-high 11 batters. Only two of his retired batter were not via the strikeout.

 

Crall was the winning pitcher out of the bullpen on June 8 against the Xenia Scouts. For the week, Crall surrendered one run on one hit as the opposition hit for just an .071 batting average.

 

Crall is an incoming freshman to the Wright State University. Crall recently graduated from Western Brown High School in Mt. Orab, Ohio where he had a decorated career. Last month, for the third straight year, Crall was named the Southern Buckeye Athletic/Academic Conference American Division Baseball Player of the Year.

 

 

HONORABLE MENTION - Pitcher of the Week

 

Manny Soto - Xenia Scouts - Westmont College

Manny Soto record two victories, both out of the bullpen for the Xenia Scouts. Soto threw five shutout innings in relief giving up just one hit in Xenia's wins over the Southern Ohio Copperheads and the Hamilton Joes.

 

 

Daniel Wilcome - Michigan Monarchs - Saginaw Valley State

Daniel Wilcome earned the victory in the Michigan Monarchs home opener against the Lima Locos on June 5. Wilcome threw five shutout innings giving up just one hit while striking out three batters.

 

 

Matteo Pare - Lima Locos - Pensacola State College

Matteo Pare went 1-0 in two appearances, both starts, for the Lima Locos. Pare got the win in a 2-0 victory over the Muskegon Clippers this past Sunday. He tossed five shutout innings giving up just two hits and one walk while striking out four batters. The opposition hit just .212 against him for the week.

The Great Lakes Summer Collegiate, founded in 1987, is a wood-bat league that is certified by the NCAA and is partially funded by Major League Baseball. The GLSCL is a non-profit 501(c)(3) entity that is one of 12 members of the National Alliance of Collegiate Summer Baseball (NACSB). The league currently consists of 7 active franchises in Ohio and Michigan boasting several players that have earned service time in major league baseball.
