Monarchs Kimo Fukofuka wins Player of the Week

GLSCL PLAYER OF THE WEEK - June 17, 2024
Kimo Fukofuka - Michigan Monarchs - Hayward, California
Kimo Fukofuka hit for a .480 batting average over the course of six games during the week. Fukofuka racked up 12 hits in 25 at bats with six RBIs and four runs scored and three stolen bases. He also added a solo home run during a three hit performance against the Xenia Scouts on June 15.
Fukafoka followed that up by going 4-for-6 in final games of the series against the Scouts on Father’s Day. For the season, Fukafuko is now hitting .382 with a .485 on base percentage and a .500 slugging percentage.
The Hayward, California native is currently in the transfer portal after playing the last two seasons at San Jose State University. He played 23 game for the Spartans as an outfielder this past spring season. Fukafoka played the previous two seasons a Canada College in Redwood City, California.
HONORABLE MENTION - Player of the Week
Stefan DiCorrado - Grand Lake Mariners - Dartmouth College
Stefan DiCorrado hit .471, going 8-for-17 during a five-game stretch this past week. DiCorrado added five RBIs and four stolen bases. The Mississauga, Ontario native leads the Mariners with a .423 batting average for the season.
Jake McNamara - Xenia Scouts - Palm Beach Atlantic University
Jake McNamara was nominated for the second consecutive week helping the Scouts to a 4-2 record. McNamara hit .391 with six RBIs, six runs scored and eight stolen bases. The Marne, Michigan native is second in the GLSCL with 15 stolen bases on the season.
Brooks Wright - Lima Locos - University of Louisiana
Brooks Wright made quite a splash for the Locos in his first collegiate action as an incoming freshman to the University of Louisiana. After a long day of travel from his home in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on Friday, Wright was thrust into the lineup going 2-for-4 at the plate. In his three games for the weekend, Wright went 6-for-10 with four RBIs and 1.414 ops.

The Great Lakes Summer Collegiate, founded in 1987, is a wood-bat league that is certified by the NCAA and is partially funded by Major League Baseball. The GLSCL is a non-profit 501(c)(3) entity that is one of 12 members of the National Alliance of Collegiate Summer Baseball (NACSB). The league currently consists of 7 active franchises in Ohio and Michigan boasting several players that have earned service time in major league baseball.
