Locos Drew Kirby wins GLSCL Pitcher of the Week

GLSCL PITCHER OF THE WEEK - June 17, 2024
Drew Kirby - Lima Locos - University of Louisiana
Drew Kirby threw four shutout innings for Lima on June 15 in a 9-1 win over the Southern Ohio Copperheads. Kirby struck out seven batters while scattering two hits and not allowing a walk. It was the first start of the season for the Cypress, Texas native.
On the season, Kirby has a 1.23 ERA in 7.1 innings pitched over the course of two games. The six foot, six inch right hander has 12 strikeouts on the season while surrendering only three base on balls.
Kirby was red shirted this past spring as a freshman at the University of Louisiana. The Rajin Cajuns advanced to the NCAA Bryan-College Station regional amassing a 42-20 record. The school formerly referred to as Louisiana-Lafayette beat Texas before falling in the finals to the overall #3 seed and hosting Texas A&M Aggies.

Noah Ciemny - Hamilton Joes - Wisconsin Parkside
Noah Ciemny threw six shutout innings giving up just two hits while striking out five batters and giving up five walks. Ciemny earned his first victory of the season putting a halt to the Joes two-game team losing streak. He is one of just three GLSCL pitchers that qualify for the league leaders to have an ERA of under one run (0.82).
Daniel Wilcome - Michigan Monarchs - Saginaw Valley State
Daniel Wilcome improved his record on the season to 2-0 after a 6-4 win over the Southern Ohio Copperheads on June 11. Wilcome struck out four batters over the course of six innings pitched. He gave his first two runs of the season leading the team with a 1.63 ERA.
Marco Dumsky - Grand Lake Mariners - Dartmouth College
Marco Dumsky made two appearances this past week after joining the Mariners in time for the second week of the season. Dumsky pitched five innings in relief giving up just two earned runs on three hits. The righty from Dartmouth College struck out nine batters, six of which came on June 15 against the Muskegon Clippers.

The Great Lakes Summer Collegiate, founded in 1987, is a wood-bat league that is certified by the NCAA and is partially funded by Major League Baseball. The GLSCL is a non-profit 501(c)(3) entity that is one of 12 members of the National Alliance of Collegiate Summer Baseball (NACSB). The league currently consists of 7 active franchises in Ohio and Michigan boasting several players that have earned service time in major league baseball.
