Scouts Brenden Holland wins Pitcher of the Week

GLSCL PITCHER OF THE WEEK - June 24, 2024
Brenden Holland - Xenia Scouts - Lourdes University
Brenden Holland threw five shutout innings for the Xenia Scouts on June 19 in a 2-1 road win over the Lima Locos. Holland struck out a season high nine batters while allowing just one walk and scattering three hits. The Riga, Michigan native earned his first victory of the season.
On the season, Holland now has a 1-1 record in three starts. The lefty starter has struck out 14 batters in 14.1 innings or work.
Holland completed his second season at Lourdes University this past spring. He made 11 starts pitching 47 innings striking out 42 batters. The Gray Wolves advanced to the Wolverines Hoosier Athletic Conference tournament that was coincidentally played in Lima at nearly University of Northwest Ohio.

Calvin Urish - Lima Locos - Barton County CC
Calvin Urish threw four shutout innings in the Locos sudden death victory over the Xenia Scout on June 20. The Lima coaching staff had enough faith in Urish to return send him back out to the mound after winning the sudden death coin flip. Urish proceeded to induce a ground ball double play and notched a strikeout giving the Locos the win.
Cooper Fiehrer - Hamilton Joes - Marietta College
Cooper Fiehrer threw 4.1 innings shutout in relief earning the victory for the Hamilton Joes in an 8-4 win over the Michigan Monarchs on June 18. Fiehrer allowing just one base runner while striking out five batters in that outing. He also pitched a perfect inning out of the bullpen on June 23 against the Lima Locos.
Owen Willard - Muskegon Clippers - Purdue Fort Wayne
Owen Willard earned two wins for the Clippers over the course of the week. Willard earned the victory out of the bullpen in 2-1 win on the road at Southern Ohio on June 19. He also got the win in a start in the second game of a double header at home against the Grand Lake Mariners on June 23. For the week, Willard went five innings striking out seven batters giving up just two runs and three hits.

The Great Lakes Summer Collegiate, founded in 1987, is a wood-bat league that is certified by the NCAA and is partially funded by Major League Baseball. The GLSCL is a non-profit 501(c)(3) entity that is one of 12 members of the National Alliance of Collegiate Summer Baseball (NACSB). The league currently consists of 7 active franchises in Ohio and Michigan boasting several players that have earned service time in major league baseball.
