Lima's Matteo Pare wins Pitcher of the Week

GLSCL PITCHER OF THE WEEK - July 1, 2024
Matteo Pare - Lima Locos - Pensacola State College
Matteo Pare made his fifth quality start on the season improving his record to 3-0 after defeating the Grand Lake Mariners 9-1 on June 28. Pare threw five shutout innings giving up just three hits while not allowing a walk or a hit batter.
Pare improved his ERA to 1.80 on the season which is good enough for second best in the GLSCL. He has struck out 14 batters and only given up three walks for the season.
The LaSalle, Ontario, Canada native, who was a one-time commit to Coastal Carolina, played this past spring at Pensacola State College. Pare made 12 starts pitching 57.2 innings striking out 43 batters while racking up a 6-2 record.
HONORABLE MENTION - Pitcher of the Week
Mason Reyes - Grand Lake Mariners - Southwestern University
Mason Reyes earned his first victory of the season on June 25 over the first place Hamilton Joes. Reyes went seven innings giving up just one run on three hits. He struck out six batters surrendering only two walks.
Abe Crall - Hamilton Joes - Wright State University
Abe Crall went three innings out of the bullpen on June 26 against the Grand Lake Mariners for his second victory of the season. For the week, Crall appeared in two games striking out seven batters while walking five giving up just one hits and one unearned run.
Owen Willard - Muskegon Clippers - Purdue Fort Wayne
Owen Willard went five and 2/3 innings striking out six batters on June 29 against the Michigan Monarchs. The Clippers won that game 7-3 despite Willard not factoring into the decision. Willard gave up three runs on seven hits and did not allow a walk.

The Great Lakes Summer Collegiate, founded in 1987, is a wood-bat league that is certified by the NCAA and is partially funded by Major League Baseball. The GLSCL is a non-profit 501(c)(3) entity that is one of 12 members of the National Alliance of Collegiate Summer Baseball (NACSB). The league currently consists of 7 active franchises in Ohio and Michigan boasting several players that have earned service time in major league baseball.
