Clippers Keegan Batka wins GLSCL Pitcher of the Week

GLSCL PITCHER OF THE WEEK - July 15, 2024
Keegan Batka - Muskegon Clippers - Central Michigan University
Keegan Batka helped carry the Clippers to a 3-2 victory over the first place Hamilton Joes on July 13. Batka went seven innings earning his first win of the season in just his second appearance since joining the team one week earlier. Batka gave up just one unearned run, one hit and one walk while striking out 11 batters.
Batka has 18 strikeouts and three walks in 10 and 2/3 innings or work during his brief tour of duty so far for the Clippers. He has given up just two hits and two unearned runs in his two starts.
The Grand Rapids, Michigan native was an All-MAC second team member for Central Michigan in 2023. This past spring, Batka led the Chippewas with 75.1 innings pitched and was second in the MAC with 91 strikeouts. He struck out a career-high 14 in tossing a three-hit gem in a 2-0 win over Northern Illinois on April 28.

Logan McLaughlin - Michigan Monarch - Hillsdale College
Logan McLaughlin earned the victory in the first game of a double header on July 11 against the Xenia Scouts. McLaughlin pitched four shutout innings giving up just two hits and two walks while registering four strikeouts. He improved his record on the season to 2-0 with his effort against the Scouts.
Ryne Kaiser - Xenia Scouts - Alvin Community College
Ryne Kaiser improved his record to 2-2 on the season with a 5-2 win on the road against the Michigan Monarchs. Kaiser went five and 2/3 innings giving up two runs, one of which was earned, on four hits. He struck out seven batters while issuing just two walks.
Hayden Bush - Grand Lake Mariners - Tiffin University
Hayden Bush went six and 2/3 innings for the Mariners in an 8-7 victory over the Muskegon Clippers. Although he didn’t factor in the decision, Bush provided Grand Lake with a quality start giving up just three runs on six hits. He struck out four batters while giving up three walks.

The Great Lakes Summer Collegiate, founded in 1987, is a wood-bat league that is certified by the NCAA and is partially funded by Major League Baseball. The GLSCL is a non-profit 501(c)(3) entity that is one of 12 members of the National Alliance of Collegiate Summer Baseball (NACSB). The league currently consists of 7 active franchises in Ohio and Michigan boasting several players that have earned service time in major league baseball.
