Lima's Sebastian Alexander wins Player of the Week

GLSCL PLAYER OF THE WEEK - July 25, 2024
Sebastian Alexander - Lima Locos - Coastal Carolina University
Sebastian Alexander hit for a blistering .636 batting average in six games for the Locos going 14-for-22 at the plate. Alexander scored 11 runs while stealing seven bases and driving in nine RBIs. He was a triple shy of the cycle on the final night of the season going 4-for-4 against the Grand Lake Mariners.
Alexander was an all-star outfielder and an All-GLSCL first-team designated hitter selection this season for the Locos. For the summer, he lead the GLSCL in RBIs (30), runs scored (35) and stolen bases (35).
The Mayfield Village, Ohio played 38 games in his first season with Coastal Carolina University. Alexander was part of the Chanticleer team that won the Sun Belt Conference regular season crown advancing to NCAA regional finals before falling to the hosting Clemson Tigers.
HONORABLE MENTION - Player of the Week
Tanner Mally - Michigan Monarchs - Western Michigan University
Tanner Mally was the best for his team when it needed him the most. In back-to-back-elimination games for the Monarchs, Mally went a combined 7-for-9 with three doubles, two runs scored and two stolen bases. For the week, Mally was 10-for-17 for a .558 batting average with three multi-hit games over the course of five games.
Drew Emerson - Grand Lake Mariners - Ohio Dominican University
Drew Emerson finished the week with a .478 batting average going 11-for-23 at the plate. Emerson scored 10 runs reaching on three doubles driving in three RBIs and stealing two bases. He has four multi-hits games out of the six that he played going 3-for-4 in an 11-1 win over the Monarchs on July 19.
Cam Gilkerson - Hamilton Joes - Wright State University
Cam Gilkerson went on a power surge after winning the GLSCL All-Star game Most Valuable Player award. Gilkerson, who had not hit a home run before the all-star break, hit three bombs in the final week of the regular season. He was 7-for-20 for the week at the plate hitting three home runs, driving in four RBIs and scoring five runs.

The Great Lakes Summer Collegiate, founded in 1987, is a wood-bat league that is certified by the NCAA and is partially funded by Major League Baseball. The GLSCL is a non-profit 501(c)(3) entity that is one of 12 members of the National Alliance of Collegiate Summer Baseball (NACSB). The league currently consists of 7 active franchises in Ohio and Michigan boasting several players that have earned service time in major league baseball.
