Hamilton's Jaxson Christ earns first GLSCL Player of the Week

GLSCL PLAYER OF THE WEEK - June 9, 2025

 

Jaxson Christ - Hamilton Joes - Lake Erie College 

Jaxson Christ hit for a .600 batting average (6-for-10) playing in all three games the Hamilton Joes during Opening Weekend. Christ six runs, three stolen bases while also hitting a home run and driving in three RBIs. He also recorded a 1.000 slugging percentage and a .692 on base percentage.

 

Christ went 3-for-4 with three runs scored on Sunday helping securing the series victory of the Joes in a 5-1 win over the Grand Lake Mariners. He hit a home run on Opening Night and stole two base on Saturday for the Joes home opener.

 

The Arcanum, Ohio native just completed his sophomore season for the Lake Erie College Storm. Christ was 2nd-team All-GMAC first basemen hitting .311 with two home runs and 34 RBIs.

 

 

HONORABLE MENTION - Player of the Week

 

Carter Jackman - Xenia Scouts - Mississippi College

Carter Jackman narrowly missed out on being named Player of the Week. He also hit for a .600 batting average (6-for-10) while registering a .900 slugging percentage and a .643 on base percentage. Three of his hits were doubles and he scored four runs driving in four RBIs.

 

Salvatore “Sammy" Besztery - Grand Lake Mariners - University of Rochester

Salvatore “Sammy” Besztery hit .444 (4-for-9) in three games with three RBIs and 3 runs scored. In the Mariners 13-6 over the Hamilton Joes, Bestery was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored. 

 

Charlie Vercruysse - Lima Locos - Notre Dame (transfer portal)

Charlie Vercruysse played in all three games, all victories for the Locos, going 4-for-8 (.500 batting average) reaching base in seven of his 11 plate appearances. Vercruysse drove in three RBIs, scored four runs and stole two bases.

The Great Lakes Summer Collegiate, founded in 1987, is a wood-bat league that is certified by the NCAA and is partially funded by Major League Baseball. The GLSCL is a non-profit 501(c)(3) entity that is one of 12 members of the National Alliance of Collegiate Summer Baseball (NACSB). The league currently consists of 8 active franchises in Ohio and Michigan boasting several players that have earned service time in major league baseball.
